Young Zoé is bored; her parents, distant and apathetic, ignore her. Her life has lost all meaning. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world—the world of Quidam — where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.
Quidam : a nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past and swallowed by the crowd. It could be anyone, anybody. Someone coming or going at the heart of our anonymous society. A member of the crowd, one of the silent majority. The one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all. This is the «quidam» whom this show allows to speak. This is the place that beckons—a place for dreaming and genuine relations where all quidams, by proclaiming their individuality, can finally emerge from anonymity.
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL «QUIDAM»
A young girl’s escape
into a world of imagination
20-28 September 2014 | O.A.K.A. Basketball Stadium > Marousi
he epitome of what’s different or extraordinary, the glorification of renewal, the apogee of an internal change, an aesthetic revolution: these are what characterize the 30th anniversary of the greatest spectacle in the world.
Quidam made its world premiere in Montreal in April 1996. Since then, the production has toured in five continents as millions of people have enjoyed the famous show.
Now, this enchanting show featuring 52 world-class acrobats, musicians, dancers, clowns, singers and characters, embarks on a journey to North America and Europe.
Unlike other Cirque du Soleil’s productions, Quidam does not introduce the viewers to the dreamy realm of fantasy with unrealistic creatures and characters. Instead, it involves our own world, human life itself and a world with real people and real problems, dreams and concerns. Making drastic changes with its thematic and modern techniques, Quidam stands as the natural evolution of Cirque du Soleil, exploring through its brilliant images, the new era we live in and modernism.
